Creating a 'Deaf-Friendly' Atmosphere for Deaf Children

Author: Roger J. Carver

Biography:
Roger J. Carver was born in Newark, New Jersey, USA to hearing parents. He has an older deaf brother. He attended Bruce St. School for the Deaf in Newark along with his brother. Both were mainstreamed at age 10 and eventually graduated from high school. They also attended Gallaudet College where Roger met and married Michelle Desrosiers, a Deaf student from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Shortly after graduation, both Roger and Michelle settled into Regina for one year before moving on to Edmonton where they lived for 17 years. They then relocated to the Vancouver, British Columbia, area ten years ago where they still live. They have two adult sons who are now married, and they just became grandparents this fall! Roger enjoys gardening, cooking, reading, writing, doing genealogical research, and solving crossword puzzles.
