Diversity and Identity: Implications for Deaf

Dr. Ila Parasnis is an associate professor in the Department
of Research at National Technical Institute for the Deaf, Rochester
Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York, USA. She has been
actively involved in the field of deaf education for the past twenty
years. She has conducted research related to visual cognition,
cultural and language diversity, learning disabilities and attention
deficit disorders in deaf people and has published many research
articles and chapters.
Dr. Parasnis is the editor of a book titled "Cultural and
Language Diversity and the Deaf Experience" published by
Cambridge University Press, (New York) in 1996. She also guest
edited the 1997 reference issue of the American Annals of the Deaf
on the selected topic of interest: Cultural Identity and Diversity
in Deaf Education.
